I won’t be using as a professional and I have no idea what to look at when it comes to specs. What matters and what doesn’t matter as much? What are decent specs?
I am planning to buy a camcorder with a limitt of not more than £200. I don’t know what cam is good, don’t care if it is branded or not as long as it has a better quality. I’ve seen few camcorder on ebay which is quite cheap (below £100). I don’t need an expensive one cause it’s only for personal use not for a professional. Any suggestion, would be great! Thanks!
Mini DV is not famous now. As you need extra mpeg encoder/decoder card to convert the video from MiniDV cassettes to your system.
And also life of MiniDv cassettes has to be seen.
In case of DVD camcoder, you overcome the above disadvantages.
Why can’t you try out canon S5 IS , which allows to record video (video zooming also available) and also stores them in memory card. Has >8 MP and >12X zoom.

I want to make some films and documentaries also with effects and such, greenscreen, and all that other stuff.
I think I already know what computer and video editing software I am going to get namely i7 processor and Adobe.
I don’t know hardly anything about professional camcorders. I have a amateur consumer SD harddrive Sony camcorder right now. I am looking into getting a professional HD cam. I am not sure what the differences are between the consumer and the pro? I don’t know what features I would need and wouldn’t want to be sorry after buying? Or what is the best cam or for the best price? Can you help me out just telling me about these cams and what is important to know and which is best and all the detailed insightful information I can get would be VERY helpful THANKS!
