I don’t need professional grade, but i want enough resolution to clearly play on a 20″ monitor. I am also trying to decide upon which means of storage I should get. I hear mini DV is bad. Please direct me to a decent product. Thanks.
I want my work to look semi-professional, with as many optional manual features as possible (aperture, white balance, etc.).
The range of cameras out there is daunting, especially considering that, no matter which camera I look at, it seems to excel in certain areas and fail in others which are equally important for film use. For example, a camera with great visual quality that doesn’t port to PC well for editing and whatnot.
Any film students out there who’d like to recommend a certain camera?
Thanks!

“$300 camcorder” & “professional results” have no right being in the same question. You get what you pay for & $300 does not buy you professional quality. Sorry. A good camcoder is the Canon ZR800 or ZR850. Far from professional but pretty good for the price. Check out camcorderinfo.com to see all the lastest cameras put through the test.

I”m looking for a HD camcorder for personal and professional use. I want it to have internal and external flash drive memory capabilities so that I don’t have to use tapes to record them. I have a budget of $600-$1000. I’d also like to get a microphone to go with it too, in case I do any interviews with people.
Do you have any suggestions?

my budget is around $3,500 for the camera but im not sure what to get it will mainly be website video, but i would prefer something i could use for dvd as well. I know the panasonic p2 technology is expensive and was wondering waht other camera around this type i could get that shoots HD? TY
I’ve heard that if you want to do any kind of semi professional / amateur film making and editing - DV tape is the way to go. is it true that camcorders which record to a mini DVD dont allow the footage to be loaded onto a computer for editing?
I want to produce video footage that can be professionally broadcast on television, but I don’t have the $3,000 to spend. Are there any consumer camcorders (Handycams) that would produce the same quality? I have up to $1,400 to spend. I would prefer MiniDV or HDV.
I really want a professional camcorder, like the kind they use in movies. But, I don’t have enough money to get one, do you know any cheap ones, or have any ideas? thanks
