is it possible for am amateur using a good quality digital camcorder to broadcast live to the web in quality so that clients can watch a demonstration of a process or an activity and follow it e.g. an exercise routine or is this a professional business?
*preferably UNDER $1000* I really want to get into film production and I figured I would test the water - you have to start somewhere, right? I’m looking mostly for 1) high picture quality and 2) ability to execute simple cinematic effects like focusing in and out on an object. I may show it to the admissions directors at UCLA as part of my “portfiolio” when applying to the film school next year, so I really would like it to look professional as possible.
I own a Canon HV20 camcorder and transfer footage to my PC via firewire. I’d like to find out if it’s possible to do this through HDMI to achieve a higher quality. I guess I’m actually looking for the most professional method of transfer. Thank you for your help.

Then transferring it to 16 or 35mm, etc. Has anyone out there tried this, I know it’s getting more popular for low budget producers like myself.!

Okay, so I need an answer ASAP! I’m a professional cameraman from the LA area and I’ve recently been under contract work from an adult film company. Up until now my arsenal of recording equipment has suited all of the company’s desires outstandingly, but now they want me to work on something I’ve never dealt with before. They sent me an address and told me to prepare for outdoor lighting, but when I arrived to the set I was shocked to see a young lady having intercourse with a horse! After the initial shock, I remembered how much the job paid and began to set up my equipment, but I soon realized that I didn’t have a wide enough lens to accommodate the horse’s “endowment”, so we had to reschedule, hence why I need an answer so soon. In addition to my original question, I’d like to add that it’d be best if the camera was not HD like my other cameras, because otherwise the clients and my bosses would be able to count every wrinkle on the animal. My price range is up to $5,000. And yes, I swear this a real question. I’d normally just ask my industry buddies, but none of them have ever needed a camera that meets the sheer expectations of width, quality and affordability that I need. Any suggestions are welcome, because I’m frankly stumped. I don’t mean to beat a dead horse, so to speak, but I really do need answers as quick as possible!
Im hoping someone has expermneted with trying to pull good sound straight into the camcorder and has had success . Also if there any other low budget camcorders out there they anyone may think are better please let me know .

I want a standard home video camera that I can attach an external microphone to, but I’m not looking to buy a $1,000+ professional camcorder. Any suggestions?

I’m looking for a semi-professional camcorder that has a focus ring. Hi-def would be preferable…
